Inspired by the traditional crafts that surrounded her as a child, Jamie Lim launched California-based handbag brand Kayu, determined to preserve ancestral southeastern Asian folk techniques including wood carving and basket weaving. Each style is handmade by artisans in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines using all natural straw, wood and seashells and full of unexpected details like embroidery, fringe trims and one-of-a-kind embellishments.
