A Victorian snake necklace with a gem set head the eyes are set with cabochon-cut rubies and the head is set with pale aquamarines and yellow beryls with a tapering articulated scale ring link body mounted in 15ct gold circa 1875. In Victorian symbolism the snake biting its tail symbolised eternal love.
